Proceeds from the Wild Winter Canoe Race sustain the work of Inclusion Winnipeg, a registered charity whose mission is to enhance the lives of children, youths and adults living with intellectual disabilities and autism, support their families and advance their human rights and inclusion in the community.
Over the past six decades, Inclusion Winnipeg has worked with families to ensure their sons and daughters receive excellent services that promote quality of life and equal status with other citizens. Based on our belief that it is only through presence and participation that a person experiences a full life, we strive for the kind of environment where people, regardless of ability, race, gender, class, religion or sexual orientation can grow, make choices, and be valued, contributing members of the community. We believe people should receive support in their own homes, neighborhoods, schools, recreational activities and workplaces. We believe: everyone belongs!Inclusion Winnipeg is a registered charity. We do not receive government funding so rely very heavily on fundraising events as well as the caring and generosity of a wide range of supporters. We aim to host events that will allow a full diversity of participation, highlight a variety of capabilities and be unique crowd-pleasers. We think we’ve achieved that with the Wild Winter Canoe Race.
