Do I need to purchase a Festival pass to attend this event?

No, because we are a third party event to the Festival and it is occurring on the river, there is no need to purchase a pass. However, should you want to attend an official Festival du Voyageur venue, you will need to purchase a pass.

Under what circumstances would the event be cancelled?

The race will be cancelled in the event of extreme cold weather (combined temperature and wind chill of -30) or unsafe river/ice conditions. We will strive to provide 24 hours advance notice. Notification of cancellation will appear on the website under Race Day Info.

Where do I park?

General parking at The Forks, which may require payment. There is no designated parking for the race event.

Is this a family event?

Absolutely, the race is a family event as spectators!! Inclusion Winnipeg encourages the whole family to come and see this exciting sporting event! However, you have to be 18 years and older to be on a race team.

Do we need to supply our own canoe?

No – race canoes will be provided by race organizers.

How do I register as a team?

Register your team online on the Wild Winter Canoe Race website. Registration opens fall 2017.

What are the rules of the race?

Race Rules can be found on the Wild Winter Canoe Race website.

What if I forget to bring my signed waiver?

Blank waivers will be available at the Registration Tent. Government-issued photo identification is mandatory.

Will teams have a chance to practice prior to the race?

Yes, Training Days are scheduled for Saturday January 20, 27 and February 3 from 1:30 to 3:30 PM. Information about these training days will be available closer to the dates. Team managers will be asked to book training slots.

Who do teams need to notify if they need to withdraw?

If your team is no longer available to participate, please let us know as soon as possible. There is a wait list of teams anxious to be included. Notice of withdrawl is the responsibility of the Team Manager.

This looks like a physically challenging event and I am not a super athlete. Will it be too hard for me?

Winter canoe racing is a workout – but don’t forget that you are part of a team, working together and enjoying a fun, new winter sport.

What is the refund policy?

In the unlikely event of cancellation or postponement of this event due to circumstances beyond the reasonable control of Inclusion Winnipeg or the organizing committee of the Wild Winter Canoe Race, including but not limited to, safety, weather, ice conditions, or similar concerns, Inclusion Winnipeg and the Wild Winter Canoe Race organizing committee shall not be held responsible for any cost, damage, or expense which may be incurred by registrants as a consequence of this event being postponed or cancelled. It is further understood that Inclusion Winnipeg and the Wild Winter Canoe Race will incur significant upfront costs in organizing this event, and it is acknowledged and agreed and that the registration fee being paid is NON-REFUNDABLE.
